Ladder Rigid Track Fall Arrest

The Ladder Rigid Track Fall Arrest System connects the worker to the system via a rail trolley and automatically follows the user for hands-free climbing, and locks onto the rail in the event of a fall, allowing the user to regain their footing. The system provides maximum climbing safety for workers in virtually any place that climbing must be done. The rail attaches quickly and easily to any ladder, step, or climbing surface.

LEAD TIME: Please note that the current lead time for this system is 3-4 weeks from the date of order receipt.

Kit Components: Top/Bottom Brackets (hardware included), Non Anodized Aluminum/Anodized Aluminum/Stainless Steel climbing rails (with mounting hardware included), Aluminum/Stainless Steel climbing trolley (1), End Stop (1), Aluminum/Stainless Steel removable extension for roof hatch (if chosen), Full-body Harness (if chosen)

Ladder Rigid Track Fall Arrest The anodic coating (anodizing) is very thin and provides very little corrosion resistance. What it does provide is a harder surface. Anodizing the rail takes out all the imperfections from the extrusion process and provides a harder surface that is scratch resistant. This makes the rail a lot ‘cleaner’ looking. Anodizing the rail is primarily for the aesthetic aspects of the product. The Non-Anodized Aluminum Rail works just as well as the anodized version, just unfinished.

Types of Ladder Rungs

Ladder Rung Sizes

  • Provide the A dimension for the Round and Square ladder rungs.
  • Provide the A and B dimension for the Half-round, Rectangle/C-Channel, Angle Iron, Diamond & Superman ladder rungs.
  • Provide ‘Rung Stepping Side‘ if Square rung is selected (Does the user step on the Flat side or the Diamond side of the square ladder rung?)
    • Flat Side
    • Diamond Side

Ladder Rung Spacing

  • The Stainless Steel ladder rung spacing has a standard 12in on center spacing.
  • If not, please provide us with this measurement.
  • The reason we ask this information is because on the stainless steel ladder system, the rails require to be hole punched to match the rung spacing.

Ladder Rigid Track Fall Arrest system must meet the following ladder requirements:

  • PERSONAL FALL ARREST SYSTEM COMPONENTS: CAI’s vertical rail system must be used with manufacturer’s approved components and subsystems. Other system components may be incompatible, which could directly affect the safety and reliability of the entire system. Personal fall arrest components used with this system must meet all applicable OSHA and ANSI requirements.
  • PERSONAL FALL ARREST SYSTEM CONNECTORS: Connectors used in attaching to the vertical rail system (hooks, carabiners, etc.…) must support at least 5,000 lbs. Connectors and attachments must be compatible in size, shape, and strength. Non-compatible connectors may disengage. Only use locking connectors with this system.
  • ANCHORAGE CONNECTORS: All connectors used in attaching the rail to the ladder must be compatible with the connection point on the system. The connection must be positive and capable of sustaining a 3,600 lb. load without failure.
  • REMOVABLE EXTENSION: When the extension is installed on rigid track at the top of ladder that accesses a landing or platform, the extension should be extended a minimum of 3.5’ to a maximum of 4.5’ above the platform floor. This allows the climber to step unto the platform while still attached to the safety rail. This applies to both center and side mounted rail systems.
    • Operation: The user would climb up the ladder and rail system. Upon reaching the hatch cover, they would open the hatch. The removable extension is then inserted into the fixed rail and extends upwards through the hatch. The climber continues up the system until they reach the platform. The extension can be kept/stored below or above the hatch. Some type of tether should hold to the extension to keep it from dropping.
  • The connecting subsystem between the harness and rail must limit fall arrest forces to 1,800 lbs. or less with an average force less than 1,350 lbs. or less.
  • According to ANSI A14.3, the minimum width of the ladder must be 16 inches (406.4 mm) from inside rail to inside rail.
  • For non-standard ladder rungs not shown on this product page, contact CAI Safety Systems at (951) 465-7386 or [email protected] for additional information and assistance.
  • APPLICABLE STANDARDS: Meets or exceeds ANSI Z359.16, OSHA 1910.29(i) standards. Refer to the national standards including ANSI Z359.0, 1, 2 and 16, local, state, and federal including OSHA 1910.29(i) requirements for more information on personal fall arrest systems.

Please contact CAI Safety Systems at (951) 465-7386 or [email protected] for additional information and installation assistance.

If your response was “Non-Compliant” to any of the items below, your existing ladder may not be compliant or suitable to support a fall arrest system.
