Our Roof Non-penetrating Hatch Guardrail system can be setup specifically for your roof hatch application. This system kit was assembled by CAISS to make your ordering needs easy and flexible. When standard Roof Hatch systems do not fit your roof hatch due to raised and curved curbs, this system solves that problem. The railing system does not interfere with the roof curb of your hatch. All material components are for a non-penetrating system where no drilling is required.

System Description

All material components are for a non-penetrating system where no drilling is required. Each component is placed and pinned together to form a complete fall-protection solution for your roof hatch — the safety rails simply pin to our weighted iron bases: a quick, easy installation process that requires no penetration into the building envelope. The system is designed to meet OSHA’s fall protection standards (29 CFR 1910.28(b), 1910.29(b) and 29 CFR 1926.502).

ATTENTION! For configurations exceeding 5ft. (60″) in length or 4.7ft. (55″) in width of your roof hatch, please contact us.

EASE TO INSTALL
Easy drop and pin-in-place installation requires no tools or drilling. You do not need to penetrate floors to install the Non-penetrating Steel Guardrail System. Thus, providing you with considerable savings in time and installation costs.

MOBILITY
Now you can have fall protection when and where you want it. The Roof Non-penetrating Hatch Guardrail system is portable and can be dismantled/assembled as the need arises.

FLEXIBILITY
The Roof Non-penetrating Hatch Guardrail system is versatile and can easily be configured to your specific needs. The base can accommodate up to four rails and toe plates if needed.

SLIP RESISTANT
The base plates can be equipped with non-slip pads. The optional pads keep the base from slipping on smooth surfaces like concrete or metal. Pads also help cushion base on sensitive materials like rubber roofing.

CORROSION RESISTANT
This system comes standard with a galvanized finish, to provide resistant against weather elements.

CUSTOM ORDERS
We can provide custom engineering and fabrication for your special needs if our standard Roof Non-penetrating Hatch Guardrail system does not meet your needs.

PEACE OF MIND
We use pins with positive locks on our guardrail bases instead of setscrews. This approach allows you to visually inspect the system after assembly and be confident that it is ready for use.

Correct Usage & Components

ATTENTION! 10ft. and 9ft. railings cannot be installed in the state of California and Washington due to Cal-OSHA/WA-OSHA compliance regulations. If you have any questions, please contact us at (951) 465-7386 or fill in the contact form.
Designed for low-slope roofs or inclines not to exceed 1:12 pitch.
Smooth surfaces such as metal or concrete must utilize rubber pads on the bottom of the base plate.
System must be pinned together, System must be installed on sound substrate.
Remove all loose gravel and/or materials in vicinity of railing system. Bases must be placed on sound substrate.
Railings must be pinned into the base plate at all times.
Kickboards/Toeboards are not included with this system and can be purchased by contacting us.
For configurations exceeding 9ft. (108″) in length or 4.7ft. (55″) in width of your roof hatch, please contact us.

STEP 3 – “WIDTH” OF ROOF HATCH (Outer Dimension)

Measure the Width of your Roof Hatch.

Be sure to measure the outer dimension width of your hatch.
Your hatch width should be within the following parameters:
- Between 36in. (3ft.) and 55in. (4ft.-7in.)
This measurement will determine the size of Gate Frame, Back Railing, and Safety Gate for your system.

STEP 4 – “LENGTH” OF ROOF HATCH (Outer Dimension)

Measure the Length of your Roof Hatch.

Be sure to measure the outer dimension length of your hatch.
Your hatch length should be within the following parameters:
- Cal-OSHA/WA Compliance: Between 36in. (3ft.) and 84in. (7ft.)
- Federal OSHA Compliance: Between 36in. (3ft.) and 108in. (9ft.)
This measurement will determine the size of Side Railings for your system. Reference chart below:
